Meet The Equine Practice Team
All our Staff come from a variety of backgrounds and each have their own areas of expertise. One thing we all have in common is our love for keeping our clients much loved horses healthy and happy. Each and everyone of our team have, and continue to up skill to be the best we can be in the positions we're in today.
DR CHRISTIAN BORG B.V.Sc.
Dr Christian graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science with Honours in 1996. After graduating from veterinary school, Christian worked at the Flemington racetrack working with some of the best trainers and horses in Australia. Christian then worked in the United Kingdom for 3 years in numerous equine practices. It was here that he developed a love of general equine practice.
Christian worked in the UK during the Foot and Mouth outbreak where he gained invaluable experience in biosecruity and epidemiology. Upon returning to Australia, Christian worked in an equine practice just outside of Melbourne for 4 years. In January 2008, Christian teamed up with Dr Arnold Hennel to start the Equine Practice. Christian's areas of interest include lameness, wound management and eyes.
Christian is married with two wonderful children. In his spare time, Christian enjoys keeping fit and surfing.
DR ARNOLD HENNEL B.V.Sc.
Dr Arnold graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1999 and went on to work in mixed practice in northern Victoria for several years before returning to the Yarra Valley. On his return he worked alongside Dr Mike Bassett at the Lilydale Veterinary Clinic for a further 2.5 years, taking predominantly equine cases. It was in his next position with Epsom Veterinary Clinic at Caulfield that Arnold was fortunate enough to treat many exceptional racehorses, including a winner of the Caulfield Cup. In 2008, Arnold opened The Equine Practice in partnership Dr Christian Borg.
DR STEPHANIE DIPLOCK B.V.Sc.
Dr Stephanie , originally form the UK, graduated form the University of Liverpool in 2015 and started working in mixed practice. Steph then completed back-to-back stud season internships, the first in the Northwest of England at a practice with a large Thoroughbred breeding caseload and the second at Goulburn Valley Equine Hospital here in Shepparton, Victoria
Steph quickly settled into the Aussie life and has worked a t a busy equine ambulatory practice in the Dandenong Ranges for the past 5 years before joining us at The Equine Practice in March 2022.
Outside of work, Steph enjoys yoga and trail running and she takes every opportunity to explore more of this beautiful country.
MICHELLE - Veterinary administration
Michelle has been with the Equine Practice since July 2012. Prior joining The Equine Practice, Michelle has spent many years working in reception and administration within the medical industry.
FAYE - Veterinary administration
Faye joined The Equine Practice team in June 2018. Faye has been a horse lover for many years and prior to joining the team, Faye owned and managed a successful horse riding school and agistment centre in Yarra Valley. Faye is our social media extraordinaire.
